General Description: Colorado Technical University, founded in 1965, is a private commuter institution offering programs with technical and management emphasis in computer science, electronic engineering technology, management computer engineering, electrical engineering, among other technical, professional programs. A large percentage of the students are working adults who have transferred from other colleges, and are continuing their education through a more flexible schedule. There are branch campuses in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Denver, Colorado.
Student Population: Majority of students are from Colorado, though the online program can be completed from anywhere in the country. There are no resident halls either. Facilities include a state-of-the-art workout facility.
Programs of Study: CTU confers the Associate, Bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. Bachelor’s degrees are awarded in business (business administration, business management, management information systems, and management science), Communications and the Arts, Computer and Physical Science, Engineering and Environmental Design (computer engineering, electrical/electronics engineering, graphics technology, and technology management), and Social Science (Criminal Justice).
An average of 180 quarterly hours, with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 is required to graduate.
Requirements for Acceptance: Applicants should be graduates of an accredited high school. The GED is accepted. An essay is required for special consideration of scholarships. An interview will definitely help your chances. SAT or ACT is recommended. AP and CLEP credits are accepted, and can count towards certain class requirements. Important factors in the admissions process are academics, extra curricular activities, recommendation letters, and other intangibles such as personality.
