Getting a degree in finance will include taking many of the standard business classes like management, economics, business ethics and communication. This job can pay very well, though actual pay will vary widely by industry and experience. In May 2008 the U.S. Dept. of Labor reported annual average earnings for financial managers at $95,000. However, a 2008 survey by top financial staffing firm Robert Half International reported earnings ranging from $85,500 to $165,000 for directors of finance. The schooling, training, and degree program needed to win a top can be very rewarding for those dedicated to a career in financial management.
